Gombizau Honey Bee Farm

The Gombizau Honey Bee Farm is located in Kg Pinawantai, Matunggong in the south of Kudat. The local villagers are part of the beekeeping and honey making process here. The honey generates income as well as is consumed by the villagers. According to one, the bees are obtained from the forest, therefore they are a local breed. Before the honey is harvested from the many hive boxes erected all over the village, the bees are 'smoked' away using a smoker.

An average of one litre of honey can be collected from each hive box per month. Visitors can buy the honey which are bottled and packaged for sale.
