Studying Imbak Canyon

The Imbak Canyon is not for the faint-hearted. The attempt to conquer and study the 30,000 ha dipterocarp forest remains ongoing; recently the Imbak Canyon Studies Centre, a 27ha of ‘urban oasis’ in the wilderness had been erected. Nearing completion, the centre is conceived with funding from Petronas under the Imbak Canyon Conservation Programme to facilitate experts and researchers to study the amazing wonder of mother nature.

The RM77mil grant is disbursed under Petronas’ CSR initiative and utilised to develop the studies centre besides sprucing up the older Tampoi Research Station, located 5km from the new site.
